Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using BFRB Ally, you accept and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Eligibility and Account Registration

Age Requirements

• You must be at least 13 years old to use BFRB Ally
• Users between 13 and 17 must have parental consent
• You must provide accurate registration information

Account Responsibilities

• You are responsible for all activity under your account
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• You must not share your account credentials with others

Acceptable Use Policy

You May:

• Use the app for personal support with BFRBs: logging episodes, riding out urges, and pairing with a buddy
• Export and share your own data, for example with your healthcare provider
• Provide feedback to help us improve the service

You May NOT:

• Use the app for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Use the app to harm yourself or others
• Misuse the buddy feature, including attempting to identify, harass, or spam your buddy
• Upload malicious code or interfere with the app's operation
• Use the app to collect data about other users

The Buddy Feature

• Buddy pairing is anonymous. You agree not to attempt to deanonymize your buddy
• The feature transmits only simple signals ("squeezes"). It is not a communication or emergency channel
• A buddy is a fellow user, not a professional. Do not rely on the buddy feature for crisis intervention
• Either side may unpair at any time, and we may unpair users to protect safety

Subscriptions and Payments

Free Features

The crisis path, the core urge-surfing support, is free, forever. Basic episode logging is also available for free.

Premium Features

A premium subscription may unlock additional features such as extended insights, pattern history, and customization. Current pricing and included features are shown in the app and in the app store listing before purchase.

Billing and Auto-Renewal

• All subscription fees are billed through your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store)
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends
• Any free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled during the trial period

Management and Cancellation

• iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
• Android: Google Play Store → Account → Subscriptions
• After cancellation, premium features remain available until the current period expires
• Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription
• Use "Restore Purchases" in the app's settings to restore a subscription on a new device

Refunds

• Refund requests are handled through your app store (Apple or Google) according to its policies
• We do not process direct refunds for app store purchases, except where required by applicable law

Intellectual Property Rights

Our rights: BFRB Ally, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by its operator and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your rights: You retain ownership of the content you create (logs, notes). You grant us a limited license to process this data solely to provide our services.

Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy matters to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which also governs your use of the service.

Service Availability

• We strive to provide continuous service but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service with or without notice
• Some features may not be available in all regions

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We provide the service "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months
• We are not responsible for decisions you make based on app content, nor for any medical outcomes or treatment decisions

Termination

By you: You may terminate your account at any time using the account deletion feature in the app or by contacting us.

By us: We may terminate or suspend your account for violations of these terms or illegal activity. We will provide notice when reasonably possible.

App Store Compliance

• BFRB Ally complies with Apple App Store Review Guidelines and Google Play Developer Program Policies
• Your use of the app is also subject to the applicable app store's terms of service
• Notification permissions are optional and can be managed through device settings; core functionality does not require special permissions
• We may release updates to improve functionality, security, and compliance

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Germany.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
